The Axial® AXP8 Gilamon® Overdrive Ring/Pinion upgrade is a heavy-duty 38-tooth ring and 13-tooth pinion set, providing a 6.30:1 ratio. This upgrade increases wheel speed compared to stock, making it ideal for the front axle to enhance climbing and turning performance.
Overdrive
Overdrive portal gears adjust the gear ratio so the front wheels spin slightly faster than the rear, improving traction, steering, and handling, especially in rock crawling and technical terrain. This setup enhances climbing performance by pulling the vehicle over obstacles and preventing rollovers. It also improves steering response, allowing for tighter turns and better maneuverability. Additionally, overdrive gears increase stability, reduce torque twist, and help keep the front tires planted for better grip, minimizing rear-end sliding on steep slopes.
